One of the top competitors of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the Android Smartphone battle for supremacy this year is the HTC One, manufactured by the Taiwan-based tech company HTC. This Smartphone will overwhelm you with its excellent specs, especially when it comes to hardware, which will make you have second thoughts on purchasing the Galaxy S4 for your personal or business use.
HTC has some lessons to learn from its past mistakes and one primary principle it has applied with its latest flagship Smartphone is that one should not flood the market with iterative designs. After all, the Smartphone market has changed into a marketing battle rather than a spec war, and consumers are increasingly expecting significant changes in new Smartphone models. That explains, in part, the mixed reception with the iPhone 5 last year, because it failed to measure up to the high expectations of the public.
HTC One edges out the Samsung Galaxy S4 — which has recently been released — when it comes to design. While it may seem too inhuman at times because of its clear line and sharp edges that approximates that of the iPhone, it is still convenient to hold and is more beautifully designed than the Samsung Galaxy S4. With its rugged and industrial looking design, with aluminum front and back plates and matte white plastic siding, the HTC One will surely be preferred by people who prefer a functional and practical look.
Hoping to snatch back a significant chunk of the market it lost to the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC has boosted One’s specs to get ahead in the increasingly competitive Android market. It sports a quad-core Snapdragon Qualcomm processor cocked at 1.7GHz and a 2G RAM. It has also included excellent hardware such as Bluetooth 4.0 NFC, a GPS, a gyroscope, an IR blaster and Wi-Fi.
HTC intends to surprise with its UltraPixel camera. Where other companies have gone the direction of increasing camera pixels, the HTC chose to install a 4MP camera to allow users to shoot and apply filters faster because larger pixels can capture more light.
HTC One’s display is also impressive, rivaling that of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5 with its 1920 x 1080 pixel screen. That means it has a pixel density of 468 ppi as compared to the S4’s 441 ppi. Its 4.8-inch screen is one of the best out in the market today, perfect for watching one’s favorite movies and playing one’s favorite games.
But, like any other Smartphones, the HTC has some flaws, though these flaws are in no way uncorrectable. HTC’s battery life is less than impressive, in fact, its performance is only average. The quality of its photographs are also less than stellar.
Given the considerations stated above, should you rush ahead and buy the HTC One to serve as your Smartphone of choice for your business communication endeavors? There is no doubt that this Smartphone will be perfect for conducting your basic telephone tasks and maximizing the features provided by RingCentral or any other phone service providers.
It is in the non-communication aspects of the Smartphone in which the device must battle it out with the Galaxy S4. We can only wait what will happen.
