Google altered its developer policies for Glass to ban sexually explicit apps from its platform within hours of the first pornographic Glass app being announced.
Mikandi, an adult app store, announced its Glass porn app — dubbed Tits and Glass — Monday.
“We love the idea of a very natural, wearable smart device that can create intimate, two-way adult experiences remotely,” company CEO Jesse Adams said in the blog post announcing the app.
The app would have allowed Glass users to look at adult photos and videos filmed using Glass. The goal was to work toward enabling one-on-one interactions between adult Glass wearers.
Since announcing the adult app for Glass Monday morning, TitsAndGlass.com recorded nearly 10,000 unique visitors and a dozen Glass user sign ups.
The company said it plans to make changes to the app to comply with the revised Google Glass policy.
“Although the app is still live and people are using it, at this point we must make changes to the app in order to comply with the new policies,” Adams said. “Expect to see changes to the application tomorrow.”
Google, after apparently becoming aware of the app, altered its policy so Glass cannot “contain nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material.”
“Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography,” the Glass Platform Developer Policies page reads. “If we become aware of content with child pornography, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution.”
