Samsung Debuts Galaxy S4 Mini – But No Price or Sale Date Released

Samsung is subscribing to the bigger isn’t always better motto with its Galaxy S4 Mini, a compact version of Samsung’s flagship Smartphone: the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4 Mini, announced today by the South Korean technology titan, is a bid to capture even more of the Smartphone market by offering a less expensive device to those who are unwilling or unable to fork out some $740 for a phone without a plan. The price for the Mini has yet to be announced.

“We appreciate such unprecedented demands for the Galaxy S4 that we aimed to provide users with life companion for a fuller, richer and simpler life. And now, we want to give people more choices with Galaxy S4 Mini, similar look and feel of Galaxy S4 for more compact and practical usages,” Samsung CEO and president of IT and mobile communications JK Shin said in a press release.

“The new Galaxy S4 Mini provides consumers with a new way to enjoy the flagship Galaxy S4 experience.”

The Galaxy S4 Mini sports a 4.3-inch screen and lower-end hardware than the S4 model with its five-inch screen. The Mini has a 1.7GHz dual-core processor rather than a 1.9GHz quad-core model and its battery is rated at 1,900mAh not 2,600 like the S4. The Mini has an eight-megapixel camera compared to the S4’s 13 megapixels.

The device is powered by Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) and will come in three different versions: 4G LTE version, a 3G version, and 3G dual-SIM version, depending on the market. It will be available in white or black.

Samsung has yet to reveal when the Galaxy S4 Mini will go on sale.
